Johnny Turns 12

My baby boy turned 12 yesterday. It feels like it was just last week that I had him. When he got home from school yesterday, we got his baby book out to see how much he has changed. It was fun to see his reaction to how he was... how little he was. :) It's fun to watch him grow and change... to watch the man he is becoming. I am truly proud of who he is and is becoming. He is a very kind, gentle, handsome, and loving boy. I feel very blessed to be his mother.

Some of Johnny's Favorites:
  • Hunting/Fishing

  • Being the class clown

  • Playing Wii

  • Chicken and Dumplings

  • Camping

  • Reading

Catching Up

"The only way to get through life is to laugh your way through it. You either have to laugh or cry. I prefer to laugh. Crying gives me a headache."
~Marjorie Pay Hinckley~

I came across this quote this morning and it completely describes how I feel today. Life has been so busy the last month... I know every one's is, but I have felt completely overwhelmed. I feel if it isn't one thing it is another that seems to be hurt or breaking down.

4 months ago Marshall fell out of his work truck and along with others smaller injuries hit his "funny bone" on the side of a box. You would think, no big deal, but 4 months later, he still is having issues. We finally saw a surgeon late last week, and got scheduled for surgery 1/23. YEA!!

Of course, this in itself its a problem, but dealing with a little paycheck, having hubbie home or at work running parts instead of doing his job makes for a unhappy man. Then, to make matters worse, I just got a call from him saying he thinks his truck is breaking down... ERRRR... Something else for him to complain about... I keep reminding myself that this to shall pass... and try and find humor in anything...

OK, on to more pleasant things...

Christmas Break was great this year. Even though most everyone hated the snow, I LOVED it. It is tradition on snow days we play Monopoly with out neighbors, Bob and Raeleigh, and I actually WON!! I know... I was surprised to!! The kids had so much fun playing in the snow, and waking up to see how much more we got over the night. I have to say, this was the most snow I've seen in Molalla ever.

Christmas was good. We tried to keep it low key this year. The kids seemed happy. Lura and the kids came over to watch our kids open their Santa gifts. Then we all ate our traditional cinnamon rolls for breakfast YUMMM!! That afternoon we went to my Dads to open presents and then off to my Aunts to eat and open more presents with cousins. The evening ended over at Dave and Lura's (Dave had gotten home just before then) to watch them open gifts and play with their new puppy. We had a great time.
I love the last picture of Johnny... He looks like he has already had too much Christmas.

Twilight

OK- one of the main reasons I don't just sit and read books for enjoyment is because I get a little OCD about needing to finish it... or in this case the series. But, being in YW, all I would hear about is Twilight this and Edwards that and oh, Bella... so naturally, I wanted to see what the hype was about. 5 days later, I have just half of the 4th book let and my family is so excited about that, because Marshall told me this morning he was out of clean work socks... (OOPS!!) Let me just say that this was one of the best tween series I have read in a long time. What I love the most about it is that for a love story, it is clean!! How refreshing for a change... :)

Anyway... for what it's worth... 2 thumbs up for the books! Hope to see the movie in the next week or two.

Halloween Happenings

This halloween was bitter sweet for the Mom and Dad, but crazy fun for the kids!! Why is it that your kids have to grow up so darn fast??

My day started out crazy, like always, with the hussle and bussle of getting the kids and myself off to school. YOu would think I would have learned to get backpack and such ready the night before, but I can't seem to get that done. Maybe one day, I'll be as organized as I once was. It's a hope... :)

One of the joys of not working right now is that I was able to help in Emma's class. Her class went to the local nursing home to sing and visit with the residences. I could tell she was nervous, but excited. Emma is such a sweet girl, but when it comes to older pepole especially if they seem sick, she acts reserved (and if you know her, that is not her). I was so proud of her (and really the whole class) on how well they acted and mingled with the "old people." She handled herself with true Hutchison charm, and wooed everyone she talked with. Good for you Emma!!

MaKayla had a good time as well on Halloween. SHe loves going to the churches Trunk or Treat. SHe loves going to church activities so she can hang with her church friends. MaKayla is really coming into her own, because instead of playing with her friends, she helped take some of the younger children around to the differnt cars. I could see that she really wanted to help them have a good time. This is so typical of Makayla. She seems to think of others despite what she would rather do. What a good example she is to all of us.

Then there is Johnathan... or Johnny as he would correct me. He choose that night to go to a school dance then to come with us trunk or treating... I was a little sad to think he would rather hang with friends then to come with his family. That is until we picked him up. He had such a wonderful time, and was so excited that he danced with his first girl. He isn't my little baby anymore. People keep tellimg me this, but I choose not to see it. I was so glad to know he felt he could tell me, but it broke my heart. I keep hanging on to the time when he wanted to marry me. Now, he wants to dance with girls... When did he grow up, and how can I stop it?

So, now you can see why it was bitter sweet. I was faced with my children growing up before my eyes. I knew, deep down it would happen, but it seemed to happen so fast. Where did the time go??

We are finally blogging

Well, I am finally going to try and keep up on a blog- I figure even if I just add photos, then people can see the kids as they grow... All my friends know how not good at this stuff I am, but I promise... I'll try!!

Enjoy... :)

Johnathan started middle school this year- He LOVES it!! 6th grade has been good for him. His teacher this year is Miss. Reese. I wasn't sure if I was ready for this change... My baby... in middle school... I was even more upset, when my normally VERY loving son didn't want me to take his pictures like I ALWAYS did, or give him hugs or kisses- I knew it would happen someday, but I wasn't prepared for it that day... We both survived the first day.

The girls were a different story. MaKayla started 4th grade, and she is doing really well. She has Mr. Blesoe this year. He is a very kind man, that seems to be really good for her. She seems to have some good friends this year. So far, we haven't had to deal with any drama. I'm sure it will come... it always does, but it's nice not having it yet.

Emma has Mrs. Lucht. She is truly the best!! 2nd grade has been good for Emma. Her reading is doing sooooo... good! Her new joy are 3 new little kittens that have joined our family. She loves to love and cuddle them. The kittens aren't so sure about it, but I think they are getting a bit used to her. :)

Well, that is it for now... Hope all is well with everyone!!
